Citizenship Court
May Court members provide about 10 receptions a year for new Canadians following their Swearing-in-Ceremony at the Citizenship Court. These events serve as an opportunity for May Courters to meet new Canadians and to describe some of the many community activities that we participate in as well as to demonstrate that volunteerism is a an important part of the fabric of Canadian life.
In October 2009 during Citizenship Week, the May Court Club was honored to hold a special Citizenship Court for 60 new Canadians in our premises, presided over by Judge Brian Coburn. RCMP tenor Garth Hampson led in the singing of our national anthem.
