May Court members exercise the Club’s mandate, to engage in service
through volunteerism in the community by providing a reception
for new Canadians following the Swearing-in-Ceremony at the Citizenship
Court. A convenor liaises with the Citizenship Court secretary to
schedule May Court participation at about four receptions a year.
These events serve as an opportunity to meet new Canadians and to
describe some of the many community activities of May Court members.
Volunteerism is part of the fabric of being a Canadian and this
activity serves as a model of giving back to the community.
